Collaboration with artist Naoto Kawahara

Piazza Sempione asked artist Naoto Kawahara to develop the Fall/Winter 2003-2004 campaign.Naoto Kawahara is one of the most interesting Japanese artists in the contemporary art scene. His style combines the traditional Japanese painting technique with a vocabulary of modern imagery.For the realization of the Fall/Winter 2003-2004 campaign Naoto took a series of polaroids of a model wearing the various looks of the collection and then took them back to Tokyo, where he lives and works, and interpreted the photographs with oil on canvas. The final result, a series of 12 exquisite canvases, are a poetic and extremely personal recreation of the original photographs, elevating the various garments to a dream like state, between fashion and art.
